NumbiFest 2022

NumbiFest 2022 – 25-30 June 2022 - is Numbi Arts’ annual celebration of Somali people and culture, with spoken word, music, dance and film. Featuring a Somali Film Symposium alongside a stellar line up of Numbi resident artists and special guests.

First up is Barbaarinta - All Flourishing is Mutual, a further exploration of culture and the environment specifically through the lens of literary and visual arts. Events begin with a series of literary salons discussing key Somali language texts, together with a stellar array of poets and authors including Asha Luul, Jowahir Farah and Hassan Mohamed Alto.

Habeenyka Dhaqanka is an evening of culture with a night of live music, film, dance, spoken word and good company with special guests including the legendary Dur-Dur Band.

Join the film symposium on Somali Cinema and discuss the unique visual language of nature. Take part in a film-inspired creative writing workshop, learn about Numbi’s latest collaboration that is changing the face of the high street, and meet Bristol-based Somali artists’ Dhaqan Collective as they introduce to us their work: ‘Audible Tapestries'.

The week closes with Ardaaga Madxafka Soomaalida/Somali Museum UK, an afternoon tea with conversations around storytelling and heritage. This is a new online trans-disciplinary project, speaking with artists, historians, architects and thinkers from across the world about Somali heritage and culture.
