Threads on Redchurch
A community installation suspended above the street
To coincide with the launch of SXSW London, Redchurch Street will be transformed by a vibrant, suspended artwork – a poetic expression of Shoreditch’s creative spirit and the collective energy of its community.
On Thursday, 29th May, Rich Mix and onRedchurch will host a hands-on workshop by Siant Creative, inviting local residents, visitors, and businesses to tie a ribbon in support of the Rich Mix campaign, Every Child A Cinema Goer. Each ribbon will then form part of a large-scale aerial installation at the Boundary Street junction to Redchurch Street. The final result: a shimmering canopy of colour, movement, and care that catches the light and sways with the breeze.
The project celebrates connection, creativity, and place. Every thread is a personal mark of belonging – heartfelt, handmade, and interwoven into the fabric of Redchurch Street.
With our thanks to SXSW London, Shoreditch Arts Club, Huntingdon, Derwent, and JAG for their support in bringing this event to life.
Get involved
Add your own ribbon for £5 and send a local primary school child to the cinema for free. All proceeds go to Rich Mix’s Every Child A Cinema Goer campaign – providing free cinema trips to local primary schools and supporting their free film education programme, Flip the Script.
